Biography
Md. Mahmudul Hasan
Md. Mahmudul Hasan, an artist from Bangladesh, was born in 1982. He was regularly involved in drawing, painting, crafting, writing and reciting throughout his academic life. He won many awards in different fields during that period. But the journey was stopped when he entered into the corporate world in 2007 after completing BSS (Hon’s) and MSS from the University of Dhaka. Presently he is working as an Investment Manager in a private commercial bank in his country.
Though he leads a very busy corporate life, his creative mind was never changed and it was just hidden beneath the hard surface. When the COVID-19 crisis forced the world into a temporary halt at the beginning of 2020, Mahmudul Hasan was also forced to stay at home for few months. There were no office works, no school duties and the leisure became a burden. Then he took his brushes again and started to paint. At that time, the artist was re-born in him and the journey continued. Presently, he is participating in many different exhibitions around the world.
Mahmudul Hasan loves the watercolor most but sometimes he works with other medium. The immense world of watercolor allures him much. It’s subtleness, freshness and sometimes the uncontrollable predictions make the medium so appealing to him. From his intense love for watercolor, he always tries to participate in the international watercolor exhibitions arranged by American Watercolor Society, International Masters of Watercolour Alliance, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour etc.
Hasan always makes experiments with watercolor in many different ways. So, his works do not become stagnant in a particular way but they always evolve to further stage. As such, his work ranges from representation as well as to abstraction. Whatever format he uses, he always tries to maintain strong compositional base. He always observes the works of world-renowned watercolor artists like Joseph Zbukvic, John Slaminen, Dusan Djukaric, Alvaro Castagnet, Stainslaw Zoladz, Michał Jasiewicz and many more, to get inspiration.
His paintings mainly capture landscapes and cityscapes of his country. Bangladesh is a land of rivers and waterbodies and many of his paintings represent the beauty of these waterbodies. Still life, floral works, abstracts and calligraphy are also his scope of works. His paintings focus rhythmic arrangement of elements found in the nature around us those vary in composition, shape, form, color and light setting. He is in love of shadows full of humor that brings out the light – the life. He always wishes to leave behind something memorable one day.
